Analyze Time!!

Okay so for one of my many cool new college classes....yes i am now officially a college student :) i am taking a class called Interpersonal Communications. It is a big ol' name for the way we communicate with people and why and basically just how we all tick. Well i have this great book full of infinate wisdom and I honestly love it. I am constantly analyzing myself and anyone around me. So this class just makes me so happy that i can now learn why i eat in sections or why that girl just acted like a jerk when the other day she was a peach. The other day we talked about the way we communicate with others. Yes we are gonna dig deep people get used to it! So first there is the I-It relationship which is where we treat people very impersonally. Think about it. Do you really think of that girl that is ringing up your grocery's like a human or an object? What about your server at Winger's? One way my teacher explained it was .....inhumane. They are not treated as unique individuals. Sadly that is one of the more used forms of communication. Then there is the I-You relationship which is acknowledging peple more than an object but don't want to become best friends. No individuality. It's like a person at a grocery store says "how are you today?" and instead of saying....fine. You say "oh it's good i just got my favorite ice cream so i'm happy for the week". There is Conversation but it isn't deep more of a shallow pool. This is another that is mostly used. Lastly there is the grand old I-Thou which is known as the highest form of human interaction. This is people that you can be yourself. No fake smiles. You think of them as cherished and unique. She isn't just another cousin she is the cousin that loves sunsets and walks on the beach....if you get what i mean. But that is what i learned. I like to think about that kind of stuff. I have tried to do better at treating more people like I-You so that they actually feel like they aren't another number.
